Before You Order a Custom Photo Gift: A 60-Second Preview Checklist
A good photo can still look wrong if a face touches the edge or the wrong orientation is selected. Take one minute to check your upload before adding a personalized item to the cart. This checklist applies to image-upload gifts such as our photo canvas, photo T-shirt, and photo metal sign.
The image above illustrates a crop check; the product editor may look different on your device.
1. Start with the original image
Use a clear, well-lit JPG or PNG when possible. Choose the original photo file over a tiny screenshot, a heavily compressed message attachment, or an image already cropped too close to the subject. For a large canvas, an original higher-resolution file gives the print more information to work with.
2. Match the shape before you zoom
Portrait and landscape options do different jobs. A vertical photo naturally fits a portrait canvas or sign. A wide group photo usually fits a landscape option better. If the product has a fixed photo area, position the image within that area rather than assuming the background will be removed or blended with the template.
3. Check every important edge
Look at the forehead, hair, hands, pets' ears, and the people at the ends of a group shot. Leave some breathing room. On a metal sign, keep critical details away from the outer edge and the mounting holes. A preview that requires extreme zoom to fill the area may be a sign to try a different original image.
4. Check any words inside your picture
Many Podtas personalized items accept an image upload rather than separate custom text. If you need a date, name, message, or logo printed, include it in the finished image you upload unless that exact product offers a separate text field. Read the selected product's customization instructions. Check spelling at full size; a small phone preview can hide a typo.
5. Check the product and every cart item
Confirm the size, orientation, color, and quantity before checkout. If several people need different pictures on their shirts or gifts, verify the preview for each personalized item rather than assuming an image uploaded to one item changes the others.
What if the preview is close but not perfect?
Small print-fit adjustments may be made when needed, but do not rely on production to fix a cut-off face, remove a background, or redesign the image. If you are unsure, choose an image with more space around the subject and check the preview again. The photo selection guide helps with image quality; your product page shows its exact customization options.
